"Mayfair on Cavell is quiet, comfortable and very well priced, with arguably the best value spa
suites and family apartments available in Hobart"
Mayfair on Cavell is a delightful historical property built at the turn of the century and was once the residence
of Sir Eccles Snowden – a former Lord Mayor of Hobart and Agent General for Tasmania in London. Cavell
Street was named after nurse Edith Cavell who nursed Sir Eccles back to health during World War One.
Following his return to England, the building was mostly used as a guest house until the late 60’s. The property
was purchased by the Ludeke family, renovated and the two motel wings were built onto the front of the original
home. The family business remained for over 50 years until Dec 2017.
